On May 15, 2020,  "Optic fiber Systems" JSC celebrates its 5-year anniversary since the pilot launch of production. 5 years ago, OVS engineers received the first drop and the first samples of domestic optical fiber, which marked the creation of a new industry in Russia – the production of telecommunication optical fiber.

Today, the Company produces 5 types of optical fiber of the most popular standards. Over the past years, OVS products have been in demand by more than 80 customers from 14 countries. The products of  "Optic fiber Systems" JSC are certified in Russia, their quality has been repeatedly confirmed in the framework of joint testing programs with Russian and foreign partners, such as "Sumitomo Electric Industries" Ltd, "Rostelecom" PJSC, "MegaFon" PJSC, "MTS" PJSC, "Transneft" PJSC, etc. Today, the Company's clients are all the largest cable plants in Russia and Belarus, which is the result of continuous work of the Company's specialists.

Focusing on the needs of customers and trends in the world optical fiber market, "Optic fiber Systems" JSC has significantly expanded its product line over 5 years of operation, which is represented by the following types of fibers:

- G652D - standard single-mode fiber with low water peak, the first domestic optical fiber in the market. Fibers of this standard are used in trunk cables for communication systems, electric power and ground wearer;

- G657A1/G652D - standard single-mode fiber with low water peak and reduced sensitivity to bends (hybrid). Improved bending resistance and attenuation parameters provide advantages for urban networks;

- G657A1/G652D ALPHA - standard single-mode fiber with low water peak and  reduced sensitivity to bends (hybrid with advanced characteristics). Therefore, advanced characteristics of bending resistance, attenuation and polarization mode dispersion provide advantages in cold climatic conditions, at high data transfer rates and applicability in a wide range of optical cable designs;

Optical fiber with 2% tension - standard single-mode fiber with low water peak for communication system with 2% tension. Rewinding under tension of 2% ensures the stability of the fiber to high mechanical loads ensuring its high strength and long service life;

Optical fiber with the diameter of 200 mkm - standard single-mode fiber with low water peak for communication system with the diameter of 200 mkm provides a high density of fiber laying in the cable due to the reduced diameter of the protective coating of 200 mkm. It allows to reduce the cross section of the cable, facilitates cable routing and installation of lines.

For expanding the assortment of manufactured products, "Optic fiber Systems" launched an optical fiber coloring line in August 2018. For the second year, OVS has been providing services for coloring of all types of optical fiber including the coloring be the method of "Ringmarking".

Fiber is a complex product, the quality of which is subject to very high requirements, including strict compliance with all existing standards, so for 5 years since the technical launch of production, the Company has moved far ahead and has proven the quality of its products in the world market.

Since the start of commercial production, the Company has shipped more than 5 million km of optical fiber. "Optic fiber Systems" JSC is ready to provide the Russian market with high-quality modern optical fiber, and meet the needs of key government programs such as the "Digital economy" and the "Elimination of the Digital Divide".

“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first and the only Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It was officially opened on 25 September   2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank and the Government of Mordovia Republic.

Optical fiber is the main component of optic cables for signal transmission in modern communication networks. Fiber is also used as a sensor for monitoring deformation, temperature, acoustics and other indicators.

"Optic fiber Systems" JSC produces telecommunication optical fibers of standards G652 and G 657 A1 including those with reduced diameter of 200 microns; provides services on optical fiber coloring and the application of ring marks "ringmarking". Optical fibers of new types such as G651 and G655 are being prepared for release. Products are certified in Russia and the quality is confirmed by "Rostelecom" PJSC, Russia's leading cable companies and foreign consumers.

According to the results of certification, optical fiber was approved for use on the networks of the largest Russian Telecom operators Rostelecom, MTS, MegaFon and others.

Manufacturing capacity of the plant is 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.
