Andrey Nikolaev told about future development of optical fiber production in Russia
On 16th and 17th of March Moscow hosted the VIII International Conference “Transport Networks Russia 2017 - Development of Telecommunication Transport Networks in Russia and CIS”.
Backbone service providers, cellular and fixed-line telecommunications, departmental and corporative communications networks, representatives of research institutions, manufacturers of infrastructure equipment, system integrators, consultants and market analysts, investment companies as well as business and industry media took part in the annual event dedicated to the development of the transport communication networks market in Russia.
The General Director of “Optic fiber Systems” JSC Andrey Nikolaev told about the achieved results at the session devoted to new drivers of the business efficiency growth of main operators. As for all main parameters the optical fiber manufactured by Saransk plant is second to none of the world's leading manufacturers.
Consumption of optical fiber is growing rapidly in the world. In 2016 demand exceeded 450 million km per year. An increase in demand to 500 million by 2020 is forecasted. In 2016 the demand in Russia ran at 4.5 million km of optical fiber.
From September of 2016 “Optic fiber Systems” JSC started the industrial production of optical fiber. There is a plan to produce 2.2 million km of optical fiber in 2017 that is 50% of the Russian market volume.
